Coaching the Hero’s Journey
Evoking Transformation Using Myth and Archetype
August 16-17, 2025 | Virtual Workshop
11 ICF Resource Development CCEs

Your clients are stuck in the wasteland.
They’re going through the motions. Numbed out. Their old life structures aren’t working anymore, but they can’t see a path forward. Traditional goal-setting feels hollow when everything familiar is falling apart.
What if you had a framework that could guide them through genuine transformation?
What You’ll Learn
This intensive 2-day workshop teaches you to use the Hero’s Journey as a powerful coaching framework for clients navigating major life transitions, career changes, creative callings, and times of personal upheaval.
Day 1: The Framework
- Archetypes & Mythic Patterns: Understanding the universal templates that guide human transformation
- The Three Worlds: Village (familiar but limiting), Wasteland (stuck and lifeless), and the Adventure (risky but vital)
- The Call to Adventure: How to help clients distinguish between passing ideas and genuine callings
- Refusal & Resistance: Working skillfully with saboteur energy and fear of change
Day 2: Advanced Applications
- Mentors, Allies & Threshold Guardians: Helping clients navigate relationships and obstacles during transition
- The Treasure: Moving beyond surface goals to discover what’s truly worth sacrificing for
- The Return: Integration, community impact, and sustainable transformation
- Practical Tools: Session structures, powerful questions, and mythic interventions
Why This Matters Now
Your clients aren’t just changing jobs or relationships—they’re questioning fundamental assumptions about how life works. The old playbook of “set a goal and make a plan” isn’t sufficient when the entire game has changed.
The Hero’s Journey framework gives you:
- A template for understanding transformation that honors both challenge and growth
- Tools for working with clients who feel called to something bigger but don’t know what
- Language for making sense of chaos, setbacks, and unexpected plot twists
- A way to position struggle as necessary preparation rather than evidence of failure
“The hero’s journey happens anywhere someone is willing to risk a part of themselves to become more than they are.”
What Others Are Saying
“My coaching experience with Boston is akin to a simultaneous visit with both the Oracle at Delphi and the curator of the Great Library of Alexandria. He offers spiritual insights with intellectual precision, all wrapped in relatable archetypes.”
— Brian J. Patterson, Actor, Writer, Producer
“Boston helped me grieve the loss of my Dad, and active parenting of my kids, and move forward. What he helped me do was define my purpose at this time in my life… I came away with a self-awareness that I’m a terrific parent who now has the freedom to focus my parenting power on my stories.”
— Rebecca Donaldson, Senior Writer, Editor, Content Strategist
“Working with Boston is like distilling what feels like a mess into something I can hold and work with. All without judgment. His infectious playfulness makes digging deep and working on myself fun and exciting.”
— Seth Ambrose, Marriage and Family Therapist
“Boston sees the big picture when I’m lost in the trees. However complex the problem, he’s helped me deconstruct and rebuild with ease.”
— Jenni Romanek, VP and Head of Analytics, Instagram

If you cannot commit to attending both full days, please wait for the online version currently in development. This pilot weekend will inform the creation of that self-paced course, which will offer flexibility for those who cannot commit to the live intensive.
As a thank-you for participating in this pilot, you’ll receive complimentary access to the online course when it launches. (Note: The online version may not be eligible for ICF CCEs.)

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to know mythology to participate?
Not at all. We’ll cover everything you need to know about archetypal patterns and mythic structures. The focus is on practical application, not academic knowledge.
How is this different from other coaching frameworks?
Most frameworks focus on achieving specific outcomes. The Hero’s Journey honors the transformation process itself—including setbacks, resistance, and unexpected discoveries. It’s particularly powerful for clients who feel called to something but don’t know what.
Will this work with my existing coaching style?
Yes. This isn’t a replacement for your current approach—it’s a powerful addition that deepens any coaching methodology. The framework adapts to individual sessions, coaching packages, or entire client relationships.
Ready to Transform Your Coaching?
Your clients need more than goal-setting. They need a framework for navigating the unknown, honoring their struggles, and emerging with genuine wisdom and power.
The Hero’s Journey gives you that framework.
